Richard and Tyler in cold water - If the weather has not reached 90 degrees, take extra clothes.

Paul Jr. is the one in the yellow boat, in dry pants, laughing. (click on photo to enlarge) The water was less than 70 degrees, which feels like ice compared to the coolness of a 70 degree room temperature. Cold water robs the body's heat 32 times faster than cold air. 99 times out of a 100, an extra change of clothes stuffed into a garbage bag, in a backpack, will go unused. But the 1 time it has to be used will make all the difference. Unfortunately this was that "1 time" out of 99. I felt bad about it because I had not told them to bring an extra set of clothes. Tyler and Richard had to paddle another 20 minutes, but that's a long time when you're soaking wet in cold wind. If we had been 2 hours out from a landing it would have been pretty miserable for them.
