Pete will get up at 4 a.m. for a road trip and a kayak trip when, maybe, a few other folks might politely turn down the offer. He's a former runner who once ran 8 miles by himself and then happened upon a friend who was about to run 12, so he joined him and ended up at 20 miles without huffing or puffing about it. When our 3 & 1/2 year old son was in the hospital in 2004 for three weeks, Pete came by the hospital regularly. He could make our little boy laugh when he was weak and unable to eat.
