A man sat in a lawn chair in the middle of the sandstone river bed as we kayaked past. "Enjoying God's Great ------- River?" he asked. We said we were. "Don't tell anybody about it," he warned. "They'll come and throw beer cans in it."

Faye & Gustav soak the South
Nothing like a hurricane to end a drought. The river has recorded record lows this past summer (e.g., 5 CFS) but has also recorded record highs on particular dates.
